GUWAHATI: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday asked all deputy commissioners to put in place a community surveillance system to stop the pandemic from spreading from urban to rural areas of the state. Talking to the DCs and SPs via video conference, Sarma said in the wake of surging cases, there must be concerted efforts to stop the spread of the pandemic in rural areas. The chief minister also asked the DCs to create a system to bring down the number of Covid patients getting home isolation, as he has been insisting on institutional quarantine. Sarma also asked the DCs to give priority to the aged people and mothers to receive their doses at the vaccination centres and asked them to create model vaccination centres.
