OnePlus has added a new 40-inch Android TV to its Y-series in India. Being a member of the company’s existing Y-series of televisions, the new 40Y1 also inherits some features from it. It supports DCI P3 93% color gamut for vibrancy and color accuracy.
Just like its existing 32-inch and 43-inch siblings, the new 40Y1 TV runs the Android TV platform based on Android 9 topped with OxygenPlay UI. This means you get the standard Android TV UI along with an option to use OnePlus’ OxygenPlay UI for personalized content recommendations. It has built-in Chromecast capabilities, access to the Google Play Store, ability to sideload apps.
It also features OnePlus’ advanced Gamma Engine optimizations, along with dynamic contrast, anti-aliasing, and noise reduction support. However, it lacks the advanced MEMC feature, which is available with the U-series and Q-series models of the OnePlus TV.
The remote of the OnePlus TV 40Y1 features an FHD (1920x1080 pixels) LED panel. It has a special button for the Google Assistant to search for content with voice. The remote also features shortcuts to some OTT platforms like Netflix and Prime Video. There is also a direct button to access YouTube.
Under the hood, the OnePlus TV 40Y1 gets the quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 based processor, Mali-470 GPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB onboard storage. The new 40-inch OnePlus TV packs two download-firing speakers with a 20W output and Dolby Audio support.
The OnePlus TV 40Y1 features two full-sized HDMI ports, two USB Type-A ports, an RJ-45 Ethernet port, a Digital Audio Output port.
According to the OnePlus’ website, the new OnePlus TV 40Y1 is priced at Rs. 23,999. The TV will go on sale in India on June 1 via the OnePlus’ website and Flipkart.
