A baby, who tested positive for COVID-19 a week after birth last month, has returned home after recovering in a private hospital here.
The doctors of KIMS Cuddles gave information about it on Sunday. The child was born prematurely on April 17, as her mother needed mechanical ventilatory support due to her being seriously infected with Coronavirus.
After birth, the baby weighed just 1,000 grams and due to being born prematurely, the baby was having some difficulty in breathing, which was treated. The corona report of the child first came negative
A drop in the oxygen level of the child was observed on the eighth day of birth, due to which the child was having difficulty in breathing. The breathing problem was so severe that the child had to be kept on a ventilator. The second time when the result of the PCR test came, he was found positive again. At that time the weight of the child was just 920 grams. The team of doctors again shifted from ventilator to the Covid isolation ICU.
After clinical recovery and another PCR test, the child was shifted out of isolation to a radiant worm room and was provided with facilities like mother`s milk, special care, kangaroo care, thermal support.
An increase in the weight of the child was seen by about 15-20 grams and now instead of the tube, he was given food with the help of the mouth. After 30 days of care in the hospital in this way, the baby started showing a lot of improvement and on May 17, his weight was measured at 1,500 grams. So far 35 mothers have given birth to their child with Covid in Kims Cuddles, out of which only two were found to be Covid positive.
