PRAYAGRAJ: The constant fall in number of active cases in
Prayagraj has resulted in a big decline in the number of macro and micro containment zones.
The strength of macro containment zones has come down from 294 to 148 in a span of five days from May 19 to May 23 while the number of micro containment zone has reduced to 1,891 from 3,051 in same period in
Sangam City.
The peak of macro and micro containment zone was 294 and 9,527 respectively on May 7.
The Sangam City has reported a total of 77,493 positive cases till May 23 and 75,206 of them have recovered.
The city has reported 836 deaths so far. Currently, there are 1,451 active cases in the city.
"Increasing recovery rate and declining caseload has brought down the number of macro and micro containment zones," said IG, Prayagraj range, K P Singh adding there has been notable fall in the number of micro containment zones in
Prayagraj district and it reduced from 9,527 to 1,891 in the past 18 days.
Similarly, the number of macro containment zones which went up from 14 to 284 from April 18 to May 7, has also reduced to146 as the second wave ebbed.
IG, meanwhile, made it clear that the number of micro containment zones changes as per rise or fall in Covid cases, but since the number of active cases has too come down below 1500, the number of macro containment zones got reduced.
The number of micro containment zones has declined in neighbouring Kaushambi from 242 on May 13 to 82 on May 23, while in Fatehpur it has come down from 178 on May 18 to 98 on May 23, the IG said.
However, micro containment zones in
Pratapgarh district have increased to 1097 on May 23 from 855 on May 18.
There are a total 3,168 micro containment zonesin the range. Including 1,891 in Prayagraj, 82 in Kaushambi, 98 in Fatehpur and 1,097 in Pratapgarh. Besides, there are 530 macro containment zones including Prayagraj (146), Kaushambi (4), Fatehpur (NIL) and Pratapgarh (242).
Data also claimed that number of macro and micro containment zone is also declining in rural areas as number of active covid cases shows declining trend.
Additional CMO Dr Rishi Sahai, who is nodal officer (Covid) told TOI, "With the implementation of macro and micro containment zones, we have been successful in curbing spread nof infection through surveillance and restricting movement. The strategy of testing, tracking and treatment also helped bring caseload down."
