GUWAHATI: The Janasankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF), which is at the forefront in the battle against population explosion in India and is persistently demanding a strict population control law in the country, has appealed to Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to enforce the population policy. The previous BJP-led government in the state had announced that people with more than two children will be ineligible for government jobs and this policy will come into effect from January 1, 2021 as provided in the “Population and Women Empowerment Policy of Assam’’, which was passed by the House in 2017. JSF national chairman Anil Chowdhury said, “We can be proud that at the request of the JSF, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma enacted a law in the last legislative assembly.”
