Malian Prime Minister Moctar Ouane named a new cabinet Monday, with some of the top posts going to military officials despite calls from the opposition to form a more inclusive government.

The ministries of defense, territorial administration, security and national reconciliation will be headed by military personnel in the West African country that is halfway through an 18-month transition back to civilian rule, the Presidency said in an announcement on state broadcaster ORTM.

Civilians will hold the 21 other posts in the cabinet. They include Dionke Diarra, who was given the finance portfolio, while Djibril Tall will be in charge of mining.
