GGDSD College Organized an Extension Lecture on “Conservation of Plant Biodiversity”

Chandigarh: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, GGDSD College Kheri Gurna, Banur, organized an Extension Lecture on “Conservation of Plant Biodiversity”, on 24th May 2021. Dr. Manish Kapoor, Professor, Department of Botany Punjabi University, Patiala was the resource person for this event. Dr. Meenakshi Negi, (Coordinator, IQAC) started the event and briefed about the history, courses, and merit positions of GGDSD College Kheri Gurna, Banur, and Dr. Rama Arora (Principal) formally welcomed the resource person.

Further Dr. Meenakshi Negi, briefly shared the academic profile of Dr. Manish Kapoor and inaugurated the session through the virtual platform. More than 101 participants including students and faculty
members attended the workshop. As the maximum limit reached, so many other interested students couldn’t enter the event. Dr. Manish Kapoor, through his lecture, created environmental consciousness among the students and faculty members. He made the students understand the challenges of biodiversity and the importance of conversation about Plant Biodiversity. He explained the entire process of Plant Biodiversity and how Plant diversity underpins the functioning of all ecosystems, which in turn provide the fundamental support systems upon which all life depends. A lot of questions were asked by the students regarding biodiversity.

Overall it was a very informative session and the lecture was a great success. The lecture was duly appreciated by the students and the faculty members. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Maninder, HOD, Department of Punjabi. The event ended with the recitation of the national anthem. Principal, Prof. Dr. Rama Arora congratulated Dr. Meenakshi Negi, coordinator, and her team members for the successful conduct of the event.
