Fire ravages home on Sturdevant Road in Kimball Twp., resident escapes uninjured
A resident who was home at the time a fire broke out in the 1500 block of Sturdevant Road in Kimball Township Monday afternoon was able to escape without injury.
When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames, said Kimball Township Fire Battalion Chief Carl Stosik.
The house is believed to be a total loss, Stosik said. Heavy smoke and fire damaged the inside of the home and about three-quarters of the roof is gone, he said.
Kimball Township Fire Department was assisted by Memphis, Clyde and Port Huron Township fire departments as well as St. Clair County Sheriff and Tri-Hospital EMS. Kenockee and St. Clair were called but canceled before they arrived.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Stosik said.
