An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck parts of Uttarakhand a little after midnight on Monday. The National Center for Seismology has traced the epicenter back to the Chamoli district.
An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter Scale originated 44 km north-northwest of Joshimath in Uttarakhand`s Chamoli district at 12.31 am on Monday. Tremors were felt in parts of the state, including in the districts of Dehradun, Pauri, and Garhwal.
The National Center for Seismology has reviewed and confirmed reports of the earthquake. According to the NCS, the epicenter was 22 km deep at 30.94 (latitude) - 79.44 (longitude).
