GNIDA to build three STPs, work on cleaning sewers under way

GREATER NOIDA: GNIDA will develop three new sewage treatment plants (STPs) on public private partnership (PPP) model in Sector 1 of Greater Noida west, Knowledge Park 5 and Sector Techzone of Greater Noida. While for the STP to be constructed in sector-1, tender will be floated in 15 days, the treated water from STPs will be used for green belts, parks, industrial units, and projects under construction.

GREATER NOIDA: GNIDA will develop three new sewage treatment plants (STPs) on public private partnership (PPP) model in Sector 1 of Greater Noida west, Knowledge Park 5 and Sector Techzone of Greater Noida. While for the STP to be constructed in sector-1, tender will be floated in 15 days, the treated water from STPs will be used for green belts, parks, industrial units, and projects under construction.

The authority has also started work on cleaning of sewers for which robots and jetting machines have been deployed. So far, 17,418 main holes have been cleaned and work on 1,872 is underway. Besides, GNIDA has released complaint numbers -- 8595810523, 8595814470, 8595817954, 8595818545 -- where residents can raise sewer-related problems.

Narendra Bhooshan, GNIDA CEO, said, “Even during the pandemic we are ensuring that development works are not neglected. I held a review meeting over sewers and STPs where it has been decided to have three new STPs in the Greater Noida area. These will come up in Sector-1, Knowledge Park-5 and Sector-Techzone of Greater Noida West. These STPs will be built and operate on PPP model. We will first start with STP in sector 1 for which tender will be issued in 15 days.”
