Music Fans Spot Glaring Error in Nelly and Kelly Rowland's Music Video 'Dilemma'

If you're a millennial, chances are you still know all the words to the hit songs of the early 2000s, when cargo pants, lace-up jeans and Von Dutch hats reigned supreme.

But eagle-eyed music fans have spotted something amiss in Nelly and Kelly Rowland's 2002 smash hit, "Dilemma," and it's not the fashion.

The lyrics tell the story of Rowland moving into a new neighborhood, and she begins flirting with her neighbor, Nelly, whose iconic band-aid on his cheek inspired legions of fans to follow suit.

The song, set in a fictional town called Nellyville, reveals Rowland has "a man and a son," although it doesn't stop the pair ferociously flirting.

One scene shows the Destiny's Child star staring out of the window, checking messages on her Nokia 9210.

She appears to message her man, with the text on the screen reading "where you at? Holla when you get this," before slamming her phone shut in anger.

But one fan noticed something very wrong with the scene, and it may finally explain why Rowland wasn't getting a reply.

The message appears to have been typed on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, with the grid and letters clearly visible in the shot.

The glaring error was shared to TikTok by account IconicPopCultureX, who said: "Remember when Kelly Rowland text her man via Microsoft Excel and was fuming when he didn't text back."

The clip, shared in March, has racked up more than 1.5 million views, as people cracked up over the technical gaffe.

People made numerous jokes about the communication method, with Not Truck Nor Car pointing out: "Maybe it was a shared spreadsheet, u don't know her life."

"He better answer that text back with a pie chart," one TikToker commented.

Rebecca Louise Knowl admitted: "I never noticed this till now I'm 27 years old."

Agreeing, Soni K wrote: "I am dead. Like how the hell did I never notice that."

EmJa joked: "The thing she didn't realize is Nelly was using Microsoft paint for texting so the message never came through."

Rowland later addressed the blunder in 2019, when chatting with host Jeannie Mai on The Real.

Mai asked Rowland to "clear the air", asking: "Why were you using Microsoft Excel to send this text?"

Rowland finally set the record straight, and said: "Here's the sitch, ok. I don't know what that is. I don't know what Microsoft Excel is, I don't know I don't have a clue. So when I saw all those memes I was like, 'I don't care!' literally thinking, what is it?"

The interview snippet was later shared on Twitter, where the official Excel account responded.

"No matter what you do, we're crazy over you," they joked.
