Gurgaon: A thirty-eight-year old property dealer—Hargovind—from Saikanderpur Badha village died after being beaten up by one Mukhesh Hayatpur over financial dues worth Rs 35 lakh. The crime happened on Saturday around 1pm when Hargovind was headed to Farrukhnagr with his friend Sunil from Gurgaon. They were stopped by Hayatpur and his accomplices near Canal chowk in Sector 83. “They overtook our car, dragged us out and started beating Hargovind,” said Sunil in his statement to the police. There were around 12 men who beat up Hargovind and then left the spot. Sunil called for help and took him to a private hospital where he died during treatment. A case has been registered at the Kherki Dhaula police station under section 302 (murder) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all) of the IPC. “We have accessed the CCTV footage from the spot and are trying to identify the accused. They will be arrested soon,” said a senior police officer. According to the sources within the department, Mukesh is the brother of gangster Rakesh Hayatpur. The brothers were in news in 2018 when Mukhesh had accused Rakesh of firing at him over some property dispute.
