R Ashwin needs just six wickets to go past Pakistan’s legendary bowler Wasim Akram (414). He may also break Harbhajan Singh’s record (417) of claiming 3rd most wickets for India in Tests.

The cricketer has played 78 Tests and taken 409 wickets, including 30 five-wicket hauls and 10 wickets in 7 Test matches.

Most wickets in World Test Championship

The offspinner needs just 4 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in the World Test Championship. He has so far taken 67 wickets in 13 matches and trails Stuart Broad (69) and Pat Cummins (70). Notably, Tim Southee is the only New Zealander in the top 5 list with 51 wickets.

Syed Krimani and MAK Pataudi’s decades’ old record

R Ashwin is also known for his batting skills. He has scored 2656 runs with the help of 5 centuries and 11 fifties. He is likely to go past former India wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani (2,759) and India sipper MAK Pataudi (2,793).

Anil Kumble’s record

R Ashwin is set to overtake spin legend Anil Kumble. The former India captain has taken 50 wickets against New Zealand. R Ashwin needs three wickets to go past him among wickets in Ind vs Eng Test fixtures.
