29-year-old woman rescued from Mumbra creek

THANE: A 29-year-old woman, who reportedly jumped into the Mumbra creek during the early hours of Saturday, was rescued by the Regional disaster management cell and fire brigade personnel of Thane municipal corporation.
The incident occurred as early as 6am wherein the onlookers spotted the woman who seem to be swept away in the current.
Immediately, the disaster mgmt control room was alerted who then swung into action with the help of the fire brigade, a rescue van, and one boat was pressed in to save her.
The rescue operation went on for a couple of minutes until she was saved and brought back to the creek shore.
The woman, who is the resident of Kalher, told the sleuths that her husband lives in Uttar Pradesh. Since some time, there has been a marital discord among them. They had a heated argument due to which at around 5 am at Kasheli creek she flung herself into the creek at kasheli. But due to the strong currents the woman swept away and came till Mumbra where she was spotted and rescued by the sleuths, said an official.
The police said that she was handed to one of her friend to take care of her.
