294 new cases, six deaths in Surat city

Surat: On Saturday 294 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Surat city taking the case tally to 1,07,833. Meanwhile, six deaths were recorded in the city taking the toll to 1,592.
Those who died included four men and two women. The victims were in age group of 58 to 76 years and belonged to different areas of the city. Four deceased had no comorbidities.
Total 508 patients were discharged from different hospitals. In all, 1,02,328 people have recovered from the virus infection in Diamond City. According to Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) 29,896 persons were under home quarantine.
Total 1,206 patients are under treatment at different hospitals of which 292 are in New Civil Hospital and 222 in SMIMER hospital.
The highest number of fresh cases 82, were reported from Rander zone followed by 79 in Athwa zone. Least number of cases, 19, were reported from Udhna zones.
In Surat district, 156 fresh cases and four deaths due to Covid-19 were reported on Saturday. About 255 were discharged.
