First Innings

Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah scored much-needed fifties to help their side reach 257/6 in the first innings of the 1st ODI at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium on Sunday. Mushfiqur Rahim smashed 84 of 87 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six, while Mahmudullah smashed 54 runs in 76 balls.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal scored a fifty to help his side get out of the trouble after losing the first two wickets at quick succession. Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das was sent back to the dugout by Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera while Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed by spinner Danushka Gunathilaka.

For visitors, Dhananjaya de Silva picked two wickets in two balls to dismiss Iqbal and Mithun in the 23rd over of the innings. He picked three wickets in his spell while Gunathilaka, Sandakan, and Chameera took one wicket each

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and opted to bat first against Kusal Perera’s Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium on Sunday. After winning the Test series at home, Sri Lanka will sport a new look when they take on Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh in the 3-match ODI series in Dhaka. With two players out due to COVID-19, Sri Lanka’s depth will be tested when the two sides meet on Sunday in the 1st ODI at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium.

As for Playing XI, Bangladesh will be without Soumya Sarkar, who has had a poor run of form. Mahedi Hasan, Mossadek and Shoriful have also failed to find a place in the Playing XI.
