Hyderabad: There was a time when people rushed from Mahabubnagar to Hyderabad for the treatment of various ailments, but everything has changed now, says the Minister of Equipment and Tourism, V Srinivas Gold.
‘People from Hyderabad, Raichur and other neighboring places are now coming to Mahabubnagar, especially for Covid-19 treatment, given the availability of quality treatment, medicine and medical infrastructure, including oxygen cylinders and other support systems, in both government and private hospitals, ”the minister said.
He pointed out that reasonable cost is another important factor for people who run Mahabubnagar hospitals, and said that the reversal of the trend did not take place overnight.
“During the last exclusion, the focus was on ensuring basic facilities, food and medicine for people. “This year the emphasis is on capacity building and on ensuring adequate beds, oxygen cylinders, medicine and manpower, especially doctors, nurses and other support staff,” the minister told Telangana Today.
To ensure quality treatment, a separate Covid Section (360 beds) was erected next to a 13 KL oxygen plant in the Government General Hospital in the city. Apart from that, a facility with 100 beds has been set up in the CNS hospital.
‘Perhaps Mahabubnagar is the only district in the state where diagnostic centers charge only Rs 1,999 for CT Scan. More importantly, the management of private hospitals has allocated 20 percent of their beds for the treatment of the poor. These beds are identified with different colored stickers, ”he said.
In addition, the private hospitals also offer a seven-day Covid treatment package without oxygen for Rs 30,000 and the same package with oxygen and nine different screening tests for Rs 60,000 in the 20 percent allocated beds, he said.
