BJP-ruled states failed to handle COVID-19 situation: Cong

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) Congress national panel spokesperson Anant Gadgil on Sunday criticised the BJP-ruled states, asserting that they have “failed to handle Covid situation”.

Mr Gadgil stated, “The BJP party, which captured power in 2014 by producing 'Gujarat Model', has been exposed by local media reports about the careless handling of the second wave of corona in Gujarat by government.”

“The Gujarat High Court also expressed displeasure over the Covid situation. As a result, Gujarat's inefficient model is now exposed to the country,” he added.

He further said, “In Uttar Pradesh, on the one hand, hundreds of corpses were being cremated in a field, while on the other hand, the scene of a corpse flowing from the Holy Ganga river went viral on social media. Uttar Pradesh is now becoming a state of orphans.”

He alleged, “While in Goa hundreds of people have died due to lack of oxygen. In Karnataka, the situation is so out of control that in the city of Bengaluru, the municipal corporation has to keep seven of the 13 cemeteries for corona-dead.”
