Waiting for spotify hifi, using tidal for last few months and quite satisfied.

apple music app sucks so hard don't even know why would anyone even consider it over spotify, let alone tidal
Somehow I like the Apple music over Spotify...tidal is at another level due to lossless content
Apple has very good collection of hindi songs, SQ is good
For hindi songs gaana is also quite good with vast collection of bollywood songs but the interface is shitty

Looks like it will be a free upgrade for all users. Makes it a pretty sweet deal.
It says it will be enabled by default for AirPods and latest devices users. Let’s see how it works with other wireless ear/headphones.

Edit: from reddit
• Available in iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, macOS 11.4, or tvOS 14.6 or later.
• Works with AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, BeatsX, Beats Solo3 Wireless, Beats Studio3, Powerbeats3 Wireless, Beats Flex, Powerbeats Pro, and Beats Solo Pro.
• Works with iPhone 7 or later with the latest version of iOS; iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later), iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad (6th generation or later), iPad Air (3rd generation or later), and iPad mini (5th generation) with the latest version of iPadOS; and MacBook Pro (2018 model or later).

Note at the bottom of the page that can be missed:
"Due to the large file sizes and bandwidth needed for Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless Audio, subscribers will need to opt in to the experience. Hi-Res Lossless also requires external equipment, such as a USB digital-to-analog converter (DAC)."

It will be bundled with the next month update, can't wait to give this a try.

At no additional cost o_O
RIP tidal and spotify.
Just hope its launched in India simultaneously not like Amazon HD.
BTW Amazon has also removed the additional charges for the HD service.
Competition is growing in lossless music platforms

Hardly rip spotify, but very difficult for tidal

For spotify

It was expected for both apple music and spotify so nothing shocking in the announcement
As apple is offering the lossless at no additional cost I think Spotify will be under pressure to follow the same path when it launches its hifi service later in the year

Well, it was fun while it lasted...
Apple releases a service that's dead to more than 90% of its users.
anyone who understands lossless will know this even before the announcement. but everyone will get spatial audio. none of the other services provide this.
besides why would anyone wanna use airpods for lossless audio in the first place?

That's how Apple marketing works. They create a problem and then they solve the problem later at a huge premium. They knew this was coming when releasing the AirPods Max/Pro but of course you are supposed to now wait for the new generation devices with H2 chipset or whatever. Nonetheless, this is a bonus for existing subscribers and thus nothing to complain about.

I was opinion that the AirPods Max will be able to play Lossless (not HiFi Lossless) via the wired lightning cable. But, alas, what a waste.

I agree. For users outside of the Apple ecosystem, the lossless is a bonus.

Tidal already provides spatial audio, get your facts right

Yes that's what the video says, it was expected that spotify will do the same since they announced spotify hifi. Nothing to do with apple

It’s a pretty sweet deal whichever way you look at it.
I absolutely love the convenience of wireless headsets but would never even attempt using them for lossless.

Lossless, at least for me was always reserved for my traditional speaker setups .
Prior to this, I attempted using tidal for a year+ , but eventually gave up because of the very little use it would get due to the bad UI and response latency.. Not to mention the high cost.

Now I get that for no additional cost (or 129/- a month for a new user) - whats there not to like?

I think it's a great deal, despite having Apple Music I always preferred YT Music over it. SQ is much better and not to forget the add free YT experience.
