The devices will be allocated as needed to various NGOs in Hyderabad, Lucknow, Allahabad, Delhi, Ranchi, Bhopal and other cities.

For the first time, various NGOs across international borders have joined hands for the noble cause at a time when several lives in India are being lost due to a shortage of oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators during the second Covid-19. The arrival of oxygen concentrators in India is a closely coordinated assistance by UK charities run by the Indian diaspora including Maahir Charity (UK), Deccan Medical College Alumni Association (UK) and Medical Aid (UK) in collaboration with IMRC, USA, the parent body of Sahayata Trust.

Well-known development economist Prof Amirullah Khan, who is the coordinator for the NGO network of Sahayata Trust, said: “This is the largest donation in the world. [of Oxygen concentrators] to any NGOs from another country. ” These are high-quality dual oxygen effluent concentrators that enable two patients to use the same machine at the same time. We train people to use the device using the manuals for devices received from England. It is a daunting task to coordinate the award, as well as to train and equip the staff to handle the device within a short period of time, especially as every minute increases the life-threatening danger for people struggling to find oxygen support. . ”

Statistically, the gap in demand supply is large. India needs about one lakh (hundred thousand) oxygen concentrators. ‘The government could only import 1,000 from the US, which means there is a 99% deficit. In such difficult times, the import of 400 units is a small but important attempt to save more lives, ‘said the former civil servant prof. Amirullah Khan said.

Waqf Telangana State Chairman Mohammed Saleem began the formal distribution of emergency equipment at the Sahayata Trust site on Saidabad Cross Roads in Hyderabad, in the presence of Sahayata Trust CEO Syed Aneesuddin and Prof Amirullah Khan. Representatives of various organizations were also present at this event
