Kerala Assembly session to begin with swearing-in, revised budget on June 4

Thiruvananthapuram, May 23 (UNI) The revised budget for 2021-22 will be presented on June 4 in the first session of 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly beginning with swearing-in of the newly elected 140 MLAs from May 24.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal will present the budget and vote-on-account at 0900 hrs on June 4 in this 14-days session which will conclude on June 14.
Proterm Speaker Advocate PTA Rahim will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new MLAs.
Earlier, Advocate PTA Rahim representing Kunnamangalam Assembly Constituency took oath as the pro-term Speaker before Governor Arif Mohammed Khan at the Raj Bhavan on Friday last.
The Speaker election will be held on May 25. Though M B Rajesh representing Trithala constituency in Palakkad has been named as the LDF’s Speaker candidate, the Opposition UDF is yet to announce a name.
Earlier, the Cabinet has formed a four-member sub-committee as KN Balagopal, K Rajan, K Krishnakutty and AK Saseendran as its members to prepare a draft for the policy speech of the Governor, who will make the customary policy address on May 28.
The discussions on the 'Motion of Thanks to the Governor' for the policy address will be held on May 31, June 1 and 2.
The session will be held under strict COVID protocol. Those persons including media persons having RT-PCR/TRUNAT/RT-LAMP, Antigen negative results or on the production of a final certificate of COVID-19 vaccination will be allowed to enter the Assembly complex. Common people will not be allowed to visit the Legislative Assembly during the period due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Congress MLA M Vincent representing Kovalam constituency tested positive at the Medical College Hospital here will not be able to attend the swearing-in.
A separate arrangement was made at 'R Sankara Narayanan Thambi Members Lounge' to watch the swearing-in live in the video wall. Only four family members of each MLA will be allowed to enter there to watch the event.
