TC Foundation, Manipur condoles the demise of Irom Maipak
Television and Cine Foundation, Manipur condoles the untimely demise of National Awarding winning Cinematographer Irom Maipak. He was undergoing treatment for Covid at Raj Medicity for about three weeks and could not recover in the post covid complications. He was 52 years old.
Irom Maipak won the Rajat Kamal Award for Best Cinematographer in the 49th National Film Award 2002 in the non feature category for the film "Monpas of Arunachal Pradesh", He also bagged the NETV People's Choice award 2005, Guwahati for Best Cinematography. He recently won the Best Cinematographer Award at the 13th Manipur State Film Festival 2020 in the feature film category for the film, 'Nongphadok Lakpa Atithi'.
He was the cinematographer behind many national and International film festival like 'Phum – Shang' directed by Haobam Paban Kumar which won the Golden Conch Award at the 14th Mumbai International Film Festival, 2016. The film also won the 62nd National Film Award in 2014.
He was also the cinematographer of 'Ima Sabitri, directed by Bobo Khuraijam which won the Silver Conch Award in the 15th Mumbai International Film Festival.
He also shot the film Leipaklei directed by Aribam Syam Sharma, the film won award at the 60th National Film Award, 2012.
Mr India a national award winning film directed by Haobam Paban Kumar was also shot by him.
Besides there are many other films which has won national award or films which got selected at reputed film festivals across India and aboard where Irom Maipak was the Cinematographer.
The State has lost a gem who have contributed largely in bringing laurels for the State. Television and Cine Foundation Manipur shares deepest condolence at the timely demise of Irom Maipak.
