Delhi -Katra Expressway: NHAI floats e-tenders for Pathankot to Jammu stretch

The work on the stretch of Pathankot to Jammu in the second phase of Delhi-Katra Expressway will soon begin as National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have floated e-tenders to complete 97 kms of the connectivity at an estimated cost of Rs 5495 Crores.

The Expressway will pass through 279 villages of the Union Territory while the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued land acquisition notification in accordance with the new proposal.

NHAI spokesman said that e-tenders have been floated for the prestigious Delhi-Ludhiana-Amritsar-Katra Expressway stretch from Balsua in District Pathankot, Punjab to Satwari upto Fourth Tawi Bridge in the Jammu City.

“The total length of this stretch is 97 kms and to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5495 Crores,” said the spokesman adding that the construction period has been kept as two years and is targeted to be completed by 2024.

The Expressway will reduce the distance between Delhi to Amritsar-Katra by about 40 km and enable the commuters to travel from Delhi to Amritsar within 4 to 4½ hours and Delhi to Katra within 6 – 6½ hours.
