Hyderabad: In order to treat the seriously and critically ill COVID-19 patients, a Covid Care center called ‘Project Ashray’ in Hyderabad has boosted its infrastructure to create a 100-bed capacity to treat patients with moderate coronavirus symptoms.
The center was built as a Covid Care facilities with 50 beds and now another 50 beds have been added.
Given the prevailing pandemic situation in the state, people from various organizations came forward and voluntarily set up ‘Project Ashray’ as a facility for 100 beds COVID-19 patients.
The Covid Care Center was inaugurated on May 3 by the Commissioner of Police of Cyberabad, VC Sajjanar.
“We initially started with 50 beds and now we have 100 beds and we are prepared to possibly expand this facility further,” said Vivek Verma, a volunteer and team member of Project Ashray.
Many volunteers, who are leaders of various industry organizations and associations, have come forward to set up Project Ashray.
Speaking to ANI, Vivek Verma said: ‘It Covid Care facilities are more than insulation at home and less than a Covid dedicated hospital. This facility is not just for someone to isolate themselves if they are tested positive COVID-19, but will actually receive all the required medical care. We currently have a team of 15 doctors, more than 50 nurses, enough oxygen and enough medicine, including Remdesivir, where needed. β
‘In case of emergency we also have an ICU with 4 beds. We also have a COVID-19 ICU bus with 2 beds and ventilators, β
Verma said Project Ashray treats patients with mild to moderate symptoms who need medical treatment, but not in severe conditions.
“Nearly 50 percent of the beds available have oxygen compounds and further said that all medicines that are needed coronavirus treatment is available, including Remdesivir, βhe claims.
Reshma, a physician at Project Ashray who has been part of this project for the past two weeks, said the Telemedicine Center receives at least more than 1,000 calls from patients, of which about 40 to 50 are directed to Project Ashray. β
Telangana has meanwhile recorded 3,464 fresh Covid-19 cases with 25 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the state health bulletin on Friday.
