Volkswagen and Skoda have a new strategy for our market. It is known as INDIA 2.0 strategy. Both the manufacturers are working on a slew of launches for the Indian market. Today, we list down five cars that Volkswagen and Skoda will be launching this year.
Skoda Octavia
Sedans might not be selling well but there are still many people who are waiting patiently for the launch of the new generation of the Octavia. The launch of Octavia has been postponed many times because of various reasons. However, Zac recently confirmed that the Octavia will be launched in June of 2021. The new Octavia looks more elegant and has a more up-market cabin than the previous generation. The 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine has been replaced with a more powerful 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. The pricing of the Octavia is expected to start from Rs. 18 lakhs ex-showroom when it launches.

Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda discontinued the Kodiaq when the BS6 emission norms were introduced. The SUV has just received a facelift in the international market. The same SUV is expected to come to India in the third quarter of 2021. The design of the Kodiaq has been updated with revised headlamps, bonnet, bumpers, Daytime Running Lamps etc. It will be offered with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered only with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen TiguanĀ
The Tiguan recently got a facelift and the manufacturer is already showing it on their official website. It was discontinued last year because of the BS6 emission norms. The Tiguan now comes with sleeked LED headlamps and LED tail lamps, an updated grille and new features. The SUV now looks more modern and attracts more attention. It will also come with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will be offered on the Kodiaq. The SUV was expected to launch in May’21 but the launch has been postponed to June’21.
Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace
The Tiguan AllSpace is the 7-seater version of the regular Tiguan. It was also updated with new design elements that we have seen on the 5-seater Tiguan. The features of the SUV will also be updated. The AllSpace will be the flagship of Volkswagen. It will also be using the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as the regular Tiguan. The launch of the Tiguan AllSpace is expected to happen sometime this year.
Volkswagen Taigun
The Taigun is a mid-size SUV from Volkswagen. It was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 as a concept. The production-spec Taigun is also very close to the concept. The new SUV has been spied quite a few times on our roads that too without camouflage. It derives some of the design elements from the previous generation Tiguan. It is based on the MQB-AO-IN platform that has been specifically made for India. The Taigun is expected to launch during the festive season.
Skoda Kushaq
The Kushaq will be the first product under the INDIA 2.0 strategy. It is a mid-size SUV based on the MQB-AO-IN platform. It will be sharing its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Taigun. Skoda will offer two engine options with the Kushaq. Both of them will also be available with the Taigun. There will be a 1.0-litre TSI producing 115 PS and 250 Nm. There will also be a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI producing 150 PS and 320 Nm. The pricing of the Kushaq is expected to start from Rs. 10 lakhs ex-showroom and it is going to launch in June with deliveries starting in July.
Skoda ANB(Slavia)
Skoda is working on a new sedan that is also based on the MQB-AO-IN platform. This platform will help in saving costs. The new sedan will sit above the Rapid. It will be larger in dimensions than the Rapid. Skoda also filed for the ‘Slavia’ name which might mean that the new sedan is called Slavia. The Slavia will be unveiled by the end of this year.
