Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Suresh Batra passes away at 53 – Team India captain Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Suresh Batra, who shaped him in his initial stage as a cricketer, passed away at the age of 53. Batra was an assistant coach and used to work with cricket coach Rajkumar Sharma.

According to senior journalist Vijay Lokapally, Batra collapsed on Thursday morning after his daily prayers. He took to Twitter to announce the sad news.
“Suresh Batra (striped t-shirt), who coached @imVkohli when he was a teenager, passed away on Thursday. He had finished his daily morning puja and collapsed. He was 53. “I lost my younger brother. Knew him since 1985,” said Rajkumar Sharma. May his soul Rest in Peace….” he tweeted.
Virat Kohli began coaching under Rajkumar Sharma and Suresh Batra at the age of nine. Batra had told in an interview that after coming to the West Delhi Cricket Academy, he was surprised to see a brilliant six coming out of Virat Kohli’s bat.
Suresh Batra had said, “We were playing against the Playmakers Academy, this match was on a matting wicket. This boy picked the ball with great ease and sent him for a six over mid-wicket. It was a great shot for a boy younger than 10 years of age.”

The duo has shaped the career of many aspiring cricketers. Manjot Kalra, who scored a hundred in the 2018 U-19 World Cup final against Australia, also trained under Batra.
Many Indian cricketers lost their loved ones in the last few months. Indian women’s cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy’s sister and mother died due to COVID-19. While Priya Punia lost her mother while RP Singh and Piyush Chawla have lost their respective fathers due to the deadly Corona Virus. Earlier this week, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father passed away after a long battle with cancer.
