Debt-ridden farmer ends life in Nanded

Nanded, May 22 (UNI) A 45-year-old debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at Savargaon village in Umri tehsil of the district.
The deceased, Anandrao Sheshrao Ramtirthe, was depressed over repayment of a bank loan taken for cultivation, dairy business and floriculture.
However, due to the lockdown in view of ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there was no demand for the produce, leading to mounting of the debt.
Depressed over this, he took the drastic step late on Friday night, police said on Saturday.
On the way to Umri Rural Hospital, Ramtirthe succumbed.
The body was later sent for autopsy.
He is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters and a son.
The Umri police have filed a case of accidental death in this regard, sources added.
