Man dies of Black Fungus at Gandhi Hospital after recovering COVID

Hyderabad: A man dies of black fungus here in Hyderabad while being treated at Gandhi Hospital. Venkat Reddy (46), from the town of Elmakanne, Tandur Mandal in the Mahabubnagar district, is infected with COVID-19. After recovery from COVID-19, he was sent home.

However, Reddy suffered from an eye infection and was taken to a district hospital where the man was found to be infected with Mucormycosis or the Black Fungus disease. He was later transferred to Gandhi Hospital where he was treated. The man died of his infection this morning while undergoing treatment. The disease has also now been declared an epidemic, and it has been affected COVID-19 patients in other parts of the country.

The central government said on Friday that it was working to reduce the shortage of medicines used to treat the rare fungal disease. COVID-19 patients as the country’s healthcare system under a massive wave of COVID-19 infections.

Cases of black fungus or mucormicosis that also cause blurring or double vision, chest pain and breathing problems have increased in India, mostly COVID-19 patients, with at least 7,250 such cases, were found across the country on May 19, according to media reports.
