PM Modi gets emotional, remembers those who lost their lives during Covid

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday choked with emotion while thanking doctors, frontline workers during video conference with them. "As a servant of Kashi, I thank everyone in Varanasi, especially the doctors, nurses, technicians, ward boys and ambulance drivers who have done a commendable work," PM said.
PM was interacting with doctors, paramedical staff and other frontline health workers of Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency. He reviewed working of Covid and non-Covid hospitals during his interaction.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has written to States and Union Territories listing the best practices used by them while dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic including the Kashi Covid Response Centre (KCRC) to provide a one-stop solution for all Covid related queries of common citizens in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

- PM Modi discussed the ongoing efforts for tackling the second wave of coronavirus in Varanasi and also the preparations for the future.
- "Varanasi has set a great example by the way it has equipped Pandit Rajan Mishra Covid hospital and increased the number of oxygen beds and ICU beds in the city, in such a short span of time," PM said.
- PM said the speed with which the city has increased availability of oxygen and ICU beds, the manner in which Pandit Rajan Mishra Covid-19 hospital has been activated, is commendable.
- "We have controlled the pandemic to a great extent, thanks to our common efforts. But there is no time to relax as we have to fight a long battle. We have to shift our focus towards villages in
Purvanchal and Varanasi," PM said. - He also appreciated the role of ASHA and ANM workers to curb the Covid-19 cases in the villages.
- PM also urged people to get
vaccinated and make it a collective responsibility. "We must get ourselves vaccinated when our turn comes and must make vaccination a collective responsibility. Our collective efforts will definitely give results and with the blessings of Baba Vishwanath Kashi will successful win the fight against."
