The intervention of the Congress high command to end the crisis in the Punjab Congress will begin with party’s former president Rahul Gandhi holding one-on-ones with state ministers, MLAs and MPs over the next few days.
A senior party leader privy to the development said Gandhi is expected to meet 10 to 15 state Congress leaders a day.
Must speak up
In 2019, I began & ended my poll campaign seeking justice for sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib... Now, our MLAs and party workers must go to Delhi and speak the truth to our high command, as I regularly do!
The initial plan of the high command to send an emissary to Punjab to interact with party leaders has not materialised. Before the meeting with Gandhi, state affairs in charge and AICC general secretary Harish Rawat will visiting the state to meet the dissident leaders.
Apart from interacting with the Chief Minister, party president Sonia Gandhi is in touch with a few state leaders. “The party high command is listening to leaders of the Chief Minister’s camp and those who were questioning the CM over the delay in giving justice to the families of the police firing incidents. The adverse high court judgment on the Kotkapura police firing cases had created a crisis in the party. The party high command is working out a formula to make the CM take on the perpetrators of sacrilege and police firing cases,” said a senior leader.
