The Opel Manta, a nameplate last used half a century ago, has been resuscitated. Called the Manta GSe ElektroMOD, this one-off concept now comes in an all-electric avatar. While the bright yellow paintwork and muscle car-like styling make it look uber cool, its highlight is the fully electric 149PS powertrain that drives the rear wheels via a stick! Yes, you read that right.
The Manta is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. But if you don’t fancy doing the heavy lifting, simply slot it in fourth and drive it like an automatic. This isn’t the first time an EV is coming with a stick. Earlier, Ford had showcased a one-off Mustang EV with a six-speed manual.
The 31kWh battery pack allows the Manta to cover around 200km. Also, thanks to the 9kWh on-board charger, the battery can be topped up from 0-100 percent in under four hours.

Another standout is the Manta’s design, which fuses retro and present-day styling. The muscle car-like silhouette lends it a retro appeal. At the same time, the sleek ‘L’-shaped LED headlamps, closed-off grille, and round tail lamps look out-and-out modern. The bright neon-yellow-and-black paintwork makes for striking visuals.
Inside, the sleek three-spoke steering wheels look straight out of an American muscle of the bygone years. But the two enormous screens comprising the digital driver’s display and infotainment system look voguish. Another impressive design element is the bright yellow stitching on the sports seats.
