INDORE: Amidst the second wave of the Covid-19, several private educational institutions both schools and colleges have stepped up to extend fee waiver to students who lost their bread winners to the virus.
While the state government has recently announced to provide free education, ration and a monthly pension of Rs 5000 to those children who lost their parents to Covid-19, private institutions too are trying to do their bit.
While some schools are giving 100 per cent exemption, few of them have been waving off 50 per cent of the total fee, the private CBSE and state board schools have taken decision on individual basis. “The fee wavier is a decision of the management and schools are giving concessions on individual basis too,” chairman of Indore Sahodaya School Complex, U K Jha said.
City-based CBSE schools such as The Daly College, The Emerald Heights International School, Queens College and conveng schools such as St Paul’s H.S School, St Arnold’s H.S School, St Raphael’s H.S School have planned to consider such cases and provide fee waiver as per their policy and requirements.
“We have already been giving a 50 per cent concession to those children who lose the earning parent and this will be inclusive for those kids affected due to Covid-19,” principal of The Emerald Heights International School, Siddharth Singh told TOI.
Whereas some of the schools such as The Shishukunj International, Satya Sai Vidya Vihar, Choithram School, Delhi Public School will soon be finalizing their decision on the fee wavier after meeting with the management.
Most of the private college affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) have agreed to give different per cent of concessions depending upon the situation as well. TNN
