Danny Masterson Ordered to Stand Trial for Rape Charges

Danny Masterson will be standing trial on three counts of rape.
A judge in Los Angeles determined on Friday (May 21) that testimony, from three women who say they were attacked by Masterson, was credible for the purposes of a preliminary hearing.
Masterson, best known for his work on the series That ’70s Show, has denied the charges and his attorney says he had consensual sex with the women. The alleged claims date back to 2001 and 2003.
The Associated Press reports that Masterson‘s lawyer “suggested that the prosecution was tainted by anti-religious bias against the Church of Scientology.” For those who don’t know, Masterson is a member of the Church of Scientology and the three women are former Scientologists.
Masterson has been free on bail since he was arrested in June 2020. He is facing up to 45 years in prison if he is convicted.
