In Meghalaya, as the number of COVID 19 cases continues to increase, the state Government is taking all steps to ensure that there is a sufficient supply of medical oxygen in different hospitals across the State.
Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War in an interaction with media informed that at present installation works for six oxygen plants is going on for different hospitals across the State. He said that installation works for two cryogenic oxygen tanks are being done in two different locations. One at Umasawli, East Khasi Hills district which is a 13 KL Plant and can produce 1000 oxygen cylinders per day. The plant will cover the oxygen requirements for Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi region. The second one at Jengjal, West Garo Hills district which is a 20 KL plant and can produce 2000 cylinders per day and will cater to the entire Garo Hills region.
The Director further informed that if required, other oxygen plants will be set up in other hospitals.
