Former Australia coach Mike Hussey, who was infected with the Covid-19 virus while coaching Chennai Super Kings during the now-suspended IPL, believes that it would be “very difficult” to organise the T20 World Cup in India this year. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in India later this year but with the country still in the grip of a devastating second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, there is speculation that the tournament would be moved out of India.
Hussey said various cricket boards would be reluctant to send their teams India. “We’re talking about eight teams in the IPL. I think there are probably similar number, maybe more teams coming in from overseas (for the T20 World Cup). ...if they’re playing in different cities, that is when the risk goes up,” Hussey said. — TNS
