PM takes stock of Covid situation in Chandrapur

Chandrapur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the efforts of the district administration in dealing with Covid pandemic and called upon officials to focus upon eradicating the disease, particularly from rural areas.
The district collector extended gratitude to the PM for leading from the front in the fight against Covid-19. Officials shared their experience using technology to monitor and enhance capacity in real-time and informed about the measures taken to increase public participation and awareness.
PM Modi called upon everyone to ensure full commitment to fight the pandemic. He claimed that the virus has made the job more challenging. New strategies and solutions are needed in the midst of these new challenges, he said.
In the last few days, the number of active patients in the country has started declining. But the challenge remains, as long as the infection persists even on a small scale, the PM said.
The PM lauded the remarkable work done by the state and district collectors and said their experience and feedback helped in formulating practical and effective policies. Vaccination policy is also being implemented at all levels, including suggestions from states and various stakeholders, he said.
He emphasized upon local experience and the need to work together as a country. He called upon to keep the villages Covid-free and spread the message of Covid appropriate behavior despite the reduction in number of patients. He instructed the authorities to devise a strategy for rural and urban areas in a specific way to rid rural India of Covid.
Virus mutations are now a concern for young people and children. On this, the PM emphasized on focusing on vaccination campaign. Wastage of one dose is a matter of one life, he said and urged all to prevent wastage of vaccine.
The Union Health Secretary, while comparing the country’s statistics with other countries, informed that India has 12 doctors for every 10,000 population, while European countries have 30-35. In our country there are 18,000 Covid patients in a population of 10 lakh. However, the number of active patients is 17,000 for every 10 lakh in United States, while it is 2,318 in India.
India’s 2% population is affected by Covid as compared to 10% in the United States. So our performance is better than other countries, he said.
