Delhi Police is warning users about SMS from these phone numbers
The cyber crime division of Delhi Police has warned users to be careful about certain phone numbers as they are being used to dupe people. The SMSes from these phone numbers claim that there are some KYC issues and that your SIM may get blocked. To stop the same, it asks to make a call to a certain number.

In a tweet from its official handle, DCP Cybercrime has shared screenshots of these SMSes. "You may receive a fake SMS claiming your SIM will be blocked due to KYC issues. These have mobile phone numbers on which people are asked to call," says the tweet. It further asks users to: Never call on such fraud numbers; never download any app on their instruction; never make even a token payment to them.

The phone numbers shared in the tweet are -- 7477363804, 7815059531, 7604015471, 7478388287, 9007941387 and 7063658227.

Recently, Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal too warned the company's subscribers about e-KYC frauds. In an email outreach, he said that with digital payments on the rise during the second wave of pandemic, frauds related to these transactions too have seen a huge jump. The mail details the various kinds of cyber frauds that mobile users may face. This includes the KYC scam. What happens in this type of scam is that a person calls you , claiming to be from Airtel, calls or sends an SMS to the customer regarding your Know Your Customer (KYC) status. You will then be requested to install the Airtel Quick Support app from the Google Play store to proceed with the verification.

Note that there’s no official Airtel app named Airtel Quick Support. When you try to install it, you get redirected to TeamViewer Quick Support App. The TeamViewer Quick Support app allows the fraudster to remotely take over the device and accounts associated with the device.

TeamViewer Quick Support is a legit remote desktop sharing application. The problem here is that very few smartphone users know how it works. With any remote desktop app, the host gets access to your mobile screen and can see whatever you are typing or seeing on your mobile. With this, the scammers try to steal passwords of social media accounts and online banking accounts including UPI pins.
