AMBALA: The Ambala police registered a case of murder after a man allegedly murdered wife of his brother over a petty domestic issue in Ambala Cantonment on Friday. The deceased woman has been identified as Sapna (in her early 30s) of Deha Colony, Ambala Cantonment, who received serious head injury after being allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon (gandasi). Sapna is survived by three sons, a daughter and husband. On the complaint of Sapna’s husband Anil, the police have registered a case against her brother-in-law Dheeraj alias Vati and his wife Suman, under Section 34 (common intention), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ambala Cantonment police station on Friday early morning. Anil told the police that his youngest brother Dheeraj lived separately with family in their neighbourhood. He said that his wife Sapna often used to have disputes with Dheeraj’s wife Suman, over the domestic issues related to children. “On Thursday, at about 7.30pm, our children were at home. Dheeraj’s children threw a mango endocarp towards our home. When my wife Sapna went to complain about the same, Dheeraj and Suman started abusing her. They started assaulting her and after seeing them I came down from the first floor of my house. Suddenly, Dheeraj attacked Sapna with gandasi in her head. She fell unconscious on the ground and I rushed her on a rehri (cycle-cart) to civil hospital, Ambala Cantonment. She was declared dead by the doctor after checking”, stated Anil in his police complaint. Anil said that he was also injured in the fight and received injuries after being attacked by bricks. Ambala Cantonment deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ram Kumar said, “The culprits will be arrested very soon and investigation is being done after registering a case.”
