FCC cuts US prison call rates

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has voted unanimously to lower interstate and international calling rates for incarcerated people and their families in the US. As a result, operators will be barred from charging families and incarcerated people more than USD 0.12 a minute for all prisons and USD 0.14 a minute in large jails for out-of-state calls, down from the previous cap of USD 0.21 a minute.
