Scientists have named the iceberg as A-76. It was spotted in recent satellite images captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission. On May 19, the european Space Agency said that the iceberg has calved from the western side of the Ronne Ice Shelf in antarctica and is now floating on the Weddell Sea.

The iceberg is 170 kilometres long and is about 25 kilometres wide. At present, it is the largest iceberg in the world. Earlier, the record used to be held by the A-23A iceberg, which is 3880 square kilometres in size and is also located in the Weddell Sea.
British Antarctic survey is the one that spotted A-76 split from the Ronne Ice Shelf. Later it was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission. The Ronne Ice Shelf in the Antarctic Peninsula is one of the largest of many big floating sheets of ice found there.
