Ropar, May 20

A clash between RSS volunteers and farmers was averted when the former tried to organise a blood donation camp at Nurpur Bedi, near here today.

The cops had a tough time to control the situation as the protesting farmers barged into the venue and threw the furniture and other articles into adjoining fields.

The local farmers belonging to Kirti Kisan Morcha and Samyukt Kisan Morcha had issued warnings to the organisers yesterday against organising the camp. They said such camps would not be allowed by the BJP or RSS till the three controversial central agricultural laws were not repealed.

Around 10 am today, even before the camp was started, nearly 300 protesters reached the venue where heavy police force was deployed and barricades were set up. For some time they raised slogans against the RSS and the BJP. Outnumbering cops, the protesting farmers jumped the barricades and barged into the venue. — TNS
