Warangal Urban: Social activists, including former chair of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), former Warangal district, Mandala Parashuramulu, called on Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to take steps to establish more ‘Basti Dawakhanas’ for the benefit of people from poorer backgrounds of society. They also encouraged the Prime Minister to improve the facilities at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) in the city.
In a release released here on Friday, they said: ‘We bring you (Prime Minister) friendly notice that Warangal is the second largest city in our Telangana state. However, MGM Hospital still does not have cardio facilities and doctors for super specialties. Most poor people visit MGM Hospital during this period Covid pandemic situation. In view of this, it is necessary to improve the medical infrastructure in the MGM hospital and also to establish more governments Basthi Dhawakhanas under the boundaries of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). ”
Parashuramlu said: ‘You (Prime Minister) have a good vision. Your decision to move the central prison to the suburbs and build a super specialty hospital on the premises is a welcome decision. ‘
Founding President of Society for Public Welfare and Initiative (SPWI) Dr Suresh Devath encouraged the Prime Minister to recognize journalists as frontline workers and COVID vaccine to them on a priority basis except to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family of the deceased journalist.
Suresh also expressed concern about the “poor facilities at PHCs and lack of oversight by the DMHO.”
