A former Secret Service agent has detailed the racist abuse that was leveled at Michelle Obama throughout her time as first girl, and her frustration and incapability as an assigned protector to do something about it.
“I might do nothing,” Evy Poumpouras advised Insider in an article revealed Wednesday. “There’s freedom of speech in the US, and even when I personally really feel that speech is flawed, the legislation doesn’t give me the facility to take that individual’s speech away.”
“When it got here to speech, they may name them names,” Poumpouras recalled. “They might say no matter they wished as long as there was no imminent menace of hurt.”
In Poumpouras’ 2020 memoir “Turning into Bulletproof,” she revealed how Obama had as the primary Black first girl withstood “sure sorts of disparagement that none of her predecessors ever confronted.”
She recalled one notably ugly incident:
