COVID-19: Telangana reports 3,660 new cases, 23 deaths

Hyderabad: Telangana’s total coronavirus the number of cases rose above 5.44 lakh with 3,660 new infections added on Thursday, while the toll stood at 3,060 after 23 people succumbed to the deadly disease.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) made the most cases with 574, followed by Rangareddy 247 and Medchal Malkajgiri 218, according to a government bulletin.

The state has 45,757 active cases.

The total number of cumulative cases in the state stood at 5.44 263, while 4826 was cured in the last 24 hours, which increased the total recovery to 4.95 446.

Cumulatively, more than 1.43 peak samples have been tested so far.

The samples tested per million inhabitants were more than 3.85 lakh, the bulletin said.

The death rate in the state was 0.56 percent, while it was 1.1 percent nationally.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 91.03 percent, while it was 86.7 percent in the country.

Meanwhile, the state government has declared Black Fungus (mucormycosis) as a disease that mainly affects COVID-19 patients recovered as a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.

A notice states that all government and private health institutions must follow guidelines for the investigation, diagnosis and management of Black Fungus by the Ministry of Health and the Indian Council for Medical Research.
