Managers of Next Immigration Services, Bhupindra Road, Patiala, have been booked on the charge of duping a student of Rs5.5 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Canada on a study visa.
The case was registered after an inquiry was conducted by the Fatehgarh Sahib DSP. The suspects have been identified as Gurpreet Singh Bainipal and Balvir Singh.
Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Amneet Kondal said Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Jakhwali village, had lodged a complaint. He said he wanted to send his son Harpreet Singh to Canada for studies. The suspects had assured him that they would get his son admitted to the Canadian Institute of Management and Technology, Ontario, and demanded Rs25,000 as the processing fee.
After a few days, they allegedly demanded Rs5.25 lakh as the college fee and offer letter fee, which was paid through a cheque. The complainant said the firm neither gave them an offer letter nor the receipt of the college fee.
