Keonjhar: Failure to have anti-Covid jabs left people infuriating in Keonjhar Wednesday. Alleging administrative apathy during the vaccination drive, they staged protest in front of the Collector’s office, a report said.
According to the report, hundreds of people had been waiting in queues outside a vaccine centre in Keonjhar municipality since early in the morning. The administration had intimated about the vaccine shortage on social media on the previous day.
However, many residents were unaware of the fact. After hours of wait, they came to know that vaccines have not been available to the centre. They were infuriated at this and marched towards the collectorate, where they staged a demonstration.
Collector Ashish Thakare came out of his residence and held talks with the agitating people. The locals were explained about the situation. Covid-19 positive cases and casualties are spiraling in Keonjhar.
Panicked, people are desperate to take jabs and throng various vaccine centres in the town every day. However, it was learnt that supply of vaccine doses not match with the number of people having registered online for vaccination.
Locals demanded that online registration and vaccine availability should be streamlined in the larger interest of people.
