Covid cases in Gurugram below 1,500 for third day in a row

On Wednesday, Gurugram reported as many as 15 deaths, taking the toll to 725.
GURUGRAM: The city witnessed less than 1,500 fresh Covid-19 cases for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. A total of 1,161 cases were reported, bringing the caseload to 1,76,099.
The last time Gurugram had less than 1,500 cases was on April 14, when 1,151 cases were reported.
On Wednesday, the positivity rate stood at 13%, a marginal hike from the previous day’s 12%. Gurgaon’s active cases account for 18,091.
On Wednesday, as many as 15 deaths were reported, taking the toll to 725.
The fatality rate stands at 0.4%. The city also saw the recovery of 3,002 patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,57,283.
The recovery rate stands at 87% at present.
A total of 15,761 patients are currently in home isolation, 2,292 (severe cases) in hospitals and 38 in district Covid care centres (mild cases).
“We are working to bring down the positivity rate and are still carrying out antigen tests to isolate positive cases at the earliest,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Meanwhile, 97 people were sent to institutional quarantine facilities on Wednesday.
So far, 14,45,989 people have been put under surveillance in the city. In the past 24 hours, the health authorities have collected 8,291 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests.
Till now, 14,33,403 samples have been sent for testing, of which 12,49,013 returned negative while the results of 2,064 are awaited.
