Construction activities on in Hamirpur district, thereby helping the working class

Hamirpur (HP), May 20 (UNI) Thanks to the decision of the state government to go ahead with the construction-related activities in the state despite COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of workers especially the migrant labor have been benefited and were leading a peaceful life.

It’s worth mentioning here that with a view to breaking the chain of coronavirus, the state government has decided to continue work on civil works sites, horticulture and agricultural areas and other project sites even during the corona curfew implemented from May 7, 2021, in the state. This decision of the government has brought relief to the needy class including daily wage laborers.

The working class has been getting continuous employment opportunities by allowing construction activities in the Corona curfew implemented in view of the Covid-19 epidemic. They can be seen going to their project sites in the morning hours and thereby returning to their makeshift homes/rented houses with happy faces.

Rattan Pal of Uttar Pradesh said that the decision of the state government to continue with the labour- related activities had helped them earn their livelihood. He said that had this decision was not taken they would have once again returned to their homes to live with their other family members.

Moreover, under the leadership of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, the State Government is determined to ensure the safety of the citizens of the state in the present circumstances arising out of the Covid-19 epidemic as well as to strengthen the economy of the poor and needy sections.

Rakesh Kumar, a government contractor of Mulana village in Bohani area, says that the labor class is happy with the relaxation of construction works in the Corona curfew.

“The standard operating procedure issued for the corona at the work site is being taken care of. The livelihood of the working class engaged in construction work is also going well. For this, they thank the state government and especially Chief Minister Jairam Thakur,” he said.

Similarly, Bunty Kumar of Lumblu village and Kamal Kishore of Ghumari said that the lives of everyone have changed due to the corona epidemic. During the lockdown last year, he had to work hard to earn a living.

However, this time during the Corona curfew period, they are not worried about employment due to the permission for construction activities. Apart from doing well for the family, they are also able to fulfill their other needs.

It is worthwhile to mention here that other works including construction are going on at the village level in the district, while under government departments also, various construction works are being conducted smoothly as per the standard operating procedure.

Superintendent Engineer of Public Works Department Vijay Chaudhary said that about 486 laborers were currently working in 76 main works in Hamirpur circle.

“Similarly, 176 workers are employed in 52 small works. In addition, departmental labor has also been deployed in various works. The standard operator procedure is also being followed completely during the work,” he added.
