Because of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in our country, many automobile manufacturers had to postpone their car launches. There were also other car launches that were already lined up for the launch. The bookings for some of these cars have already officially started. But still, for some of the cars, the prices and full specifications are not yet revealed by the manufacturers. Today, we list down five vehicles that will be launching soon in the Indian market.
Hyundai Alcazar
Consider Alcazar as a more premium and a bigger version of the Creta. The SUV was unveiled in April for the Indian market and it was supposed to launch on April’29 but the launch has been postponed to late May’21. There is quite a bit of difference between the Creta and the Alcazar. The Alcazar looks more premium than the Creta because Alcazar has more chrome elements on it. The length of the Alcazar has been increased by 30 mm when compared to the Creta. It also has a 20 mm longer wheelbase than the Creta. This opens up more cabin space and legroom for the rear occupants.
It will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that we have also seen on the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. However, it will be retuned so that it can handle the added weight of the Alcazar. There will also be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Skoda Kushaq
The Kushaq will be the first SUV under the INDIA 2.0 strategy of Skoda. It is based on a localized version of the MQB-A0 platform. The specific platform has been made to reduce the costs of manufacturing so that the new vehicles can be priced more competitively. It has one of the best wheelbases in the segment. The Kushaq has been already unveiled in the Indian market and the new mid-size SUV will be launching in June with deliveries starting in July.
It will be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The 1.0-litre TSI will be offered with the lower variants whereas the 1.5-litre will be the high-end sporty engine. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.0-litre TSI will also be offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox while the 1.5-litre will be offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen Taigun
The Volkswagen Taigun was showcased to us as a concept at the Auto Expo 2020. The SUV has been spotted many times on the Indian roads that too without camouflage. The Taigun has a very strong road presence because of its design that has been inspired by the bigger sibling, the Tiguan. It has got a very squared-off design with a flat bonnet and upright angles. It will share the same underpinnings, engines and transmission with the Skoda Kushaq. However, it is expected to get positioned slightly higher than the Kushaq because it will be offering some more features like a virtual cockpit.
Skoda Octavia
The much-awaited executive sedan is finally going to launch in India next month. This information was shared by Zac Hollis, who is the Director of Skoda Auto India. This will be the fourth generation of Octavia. It is based on a new MQB EVO platform. The new Octavia is 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the previous generation. It now looks more elegant and will have a more up-market cabin. It will be powered by a new 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine which is more powerful than the old 2.0-litre TDI engine. It will continue to be offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan is a 5-seater SUV that was discontinued earlier because of the BS6 emission norms. The new facelifted version of the Tiguan is expected to launch near the festive season this year. The new update looks modern and striking. It will also now come with the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will first debut on the Octavia. The engine will produce 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It will also come with a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
