Realme Quicksilver to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G chip could be a mid-range smartphone under the GT series
Realme ‘Quicksilver’ will be among the first smartphones to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest mid-range 5G chip -- Snapdragon 778 5G. The company announced this on Wednesday soon after the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021.

Realme is just calling the smartphone by its codename -- Quicksilver and the actual name of the smartphone is still a mystery that will be solved upon its launch.

The company has confirmed that the Realme Quicksilver smartphone will come with a GT mode found in the much premium Realme GT smartphone and a new cooling system for better performance.

Qualcomm announced its Snapdragon 778 5G yesterday. It is a mid-range 5G chip from the company based on 6nm architecture. It features Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU which claims to offer a 40% performance boost without compromising on energy efficiency. The SoC is set to arrive in mid-range smartphones from Xiaomi, IQQQ, Realme, Motorola and Oppo later this year.

The chipset also comes with Adreno 642L GPU graphics rendering which is again claimed to be 40% faster than the previous generation.

Apart from the SoC details, Realme has not confirmed or revealed any other details about Quicksilver. But, considering it will feature a GT mode, we can expect it to be a mid-range phone under the GT series.

Meanwhile, Realme is also gearing up to launch another premium mid-range smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G SoC in India. The smartphone is reported to be Realme GT which was launched in China earlier this year and comes with a 64MP camera setup at the back.
